“Marathon”: Cleo Handler’s New Track About a Love Where It’s Hard to Keep in Step

Cleo Handler is a filmmaker and songwriter whose life unfolds between Brooklyn and Los Angeles. For many years, she has been honing her craft through the Advanced BMI Songwriting Workshop. Her portfolio includes work in television (Couples Therapy, Chucky, Cape Fear) as well as recent directing and editing credits for two music videos by Amy Helm (Sun Records). Her independent films have been recognized at prestigious festivals. These days, Cleo draws inspiration from horror comedies, musicals, live rock music, and all forms of “professional make-believe.

Her new track, “marathon,” is described as an attempt to find rhythm in a relationship where the steps never quite align. It’s a story about how difficult it can be to sync with another person, even when you truly want things to work out. Blending indie and alternative rock, Cleo crafts a soundtrack for the emotional marathons so many of us run.
