Dreams into Songs: The Story Behind Wakeland’s “It’s a Hard Love”

Wakeland was born decades ago in Stillwater, Oklahoma – a group of friends who simply wanted to play music and share the joy of the moment. What started as cover songs in a friend’s bar gradually grew into a full‑fledged band with its own audience and original material.

Their new single “It’s a Hard Love” blends pop rock, indie rock, and alt pop into a sound that feels both mature and full of life. The songwriter recalls: “The idea came to me like a dream. I woke up, and the first half of the song was already written. While working on the lyrics, I realized it’s about allowing yourself to just be, not rushing, and understanding that relentless striving isn’t always a good thing.” Originally conceived as a one‑off project, Wakeland has become a testament to how friendship and sincerity can evolve into a lasting tradition – one that continues to inspire.
