Four members of Kula Shaker’s classic lineup – Crispian Mills (guitar), Alonza Bevan (bass), and Paul Winter Hart (drums) – are back together, and it seems the band is ready to reclaim their former heights. Their new single “Good Money” bursts forth like a whirlwind of 60s psychedelia, weaving in opulent lyrics and a grand vision. At its core, it’s a Faustian tale, part of a larger psychedelic opera the group is crafting.
Crispian Mills describes it this way: “It’s the story of a boy from a small community who suddenly grows wings. The people around respond differently – some see him as an oddball, others as a cherub, and some, more cynically, as a chance to make money. Is it a metaphor for the music business? I’d say it’s a metaphor for life itself.”
