“The Boy The Earth Sings To” is the new project from songwriter and filmmaker Joshua Britt. After years of touring with The Farewell Drifters and The Orphan Brigade, as well as directing music videos for The Killers and Jason Isbell, he returns to his first loves: the mandolin and songwriting.
The track “Too Late Too Soon” is a heartfelt reflection on memories, regrets, and life’s strange moments. Driving acoustic rhythms intertwine with wild, unexpected solos, drawing energy from Bob Dylan’s live performances and the poetic heart of modern indie folk. The final verse, inspired by Longfellow’s The Song of Hiawatha, feels like a quiet prayer for connection through sorrow, nature, and music. A guest verse from Lady Moon adds lightness and grace, making the track both persistent and deeply moving.
