He takes Judy Garland’s standard and unfolds it as if showing an old photograph to the light: the same picture, but details appear that had been forgotten.
The arrangement is built on minimalism – a rarity for holiday covers, where people usually add everything at once. May chooses the opposite: to remove the excess, to leave air. May does not try to please everyone. He does what he knows how to do, and it works precisely because he did not overdo it. Quiet, warm, without falsehood.
