Esplanade – the solo project of Amsterdam musician Thijs Havens, known for the bands The Vagary and Light Light – releases a new single, “Hit Me Up“, a song about how to survive in dark times. When there is too much anxiety and news around, sometimes only one thing is needed – a moment of pure ecstasy. And this does not necessarily mean intoxication. It can be music, a feeling, a meeting, or any moment that pulls you out of routine and makes you forget about problems and the state of the world, at least for a couple of minutes.
“Hit Me Up” became the first song Havens wrote after a long creative break. But when he finished the demo, something unexpected happened: the musician realized that he was ready to work on a full-length album. And if this song is only the beginning, then Esplanade is clearly preparing something we will definitely be talking about again.
