The search for hope in personal and cultural tragedies has always defined Devlin McCluskey’s work. Now Devlin is opening new sonic territory. Together with Grammy-nominated producer and sound engineer Alex Newport (Death Cab For Cutie, Bloc Party, At The Drive-In), drummer Michael Nussbaum, and a group of musicians, he created the collective Devlin and The Harm.
Together they combine McCluskey’s raw energy, memorable melodies, and reflections on sobriety, love, death, and a fractured America with Newport’s vintage studio mastery and orchestral arrangements. For example, as in the single “No Havana”. The cinematic atmosphere and tragic tension are expressed through powerful hooks and bold vocals. In his songs, Devlin expands the boundaries of 70s rock, garage soul, and indie baroque pop. Listen, it sounds cool!
