West Coast Softness in the New Single “Garden Grow” by Family Worship Center

The new single “Garden Grow” by the band Family Worship Center grew out of a moment of revelation. Based on electric piano, gentle grooves, and layered harmonies, the song carries a sun-smoked West Coast softness before blossoming into a full-fledged gospel celebration. Family Worship Center is a rock-soul commune born in Nashville and reborn in Portland.

Drawing inspiration from strange, cult-tinged texts found during field recordings across the country, the band Family Worship Center created a groove-oriented secular spiritual world rooted in communal soul and the atmosphere of the 1970s. Known for their ecstatic live performances with horns, harmonies, and piano-driven gospel soul, the musicians received praise as the best live band in recent years.
