Nvrman from Los Angeles was formed in 2018 by singer-songwriter Nick Wolfe, but it wasn’t until 2023 that Nvrman acquired its full lineup including drummer Zack Perez, lead guitarist Harrison Brown, and bassist Frank Lagunas. Releasing music in the genres of alternative rock, Nvrman doesn’t stick to one direction. Nvrman seems to always be in search of their best sound, and therefore their releases can hint at modern R&B and pop sounds. I would like to highlight their latest release, the stunning “The NVRMAN EP.” The EP consists of 5 tracks, and each track feels like a pinnacle of their mastery. Perfectly blending stylish pop rock with almost grunge-like sincerity and flair, Nvrman offers listeners a release that makes their hearts skip a beat. Modern pop rock in the EP constantly evolves, yet retains the group’s unique style, their vibrant riffs, soulful bass lines, impeccable rhythm, and commercially memorable vocals. I suggest starting to listen to the EP right away, and even if you’re new to pop rock, “The NVRMAN EP” is the perfect beginning to fall in love with this genre forever. Undoubtedly, the first track, “Cupcakes,” sets the stage for something special that awaits us ahead. This track is a real adrenaline rush that makes your heart beat to the rhythm of its energetic melodies. The rhythmic solo and pulsating bass create an atmosphere filled with excitement and movement, while the sharp vocals give the track character and depth. “Cupcakes” serves as a wonderful introduction to the world of NVRMAN, reminding you that you won’t be bored with them. The golden middle of the album, “Head Underwater,” is a true musical storm that captivates you from the first notes and doesn’t let go until the very end. It’s an energetic bomb that fills you with lively power and excitement. The melody is like an incoming wave, and the rhythms are like a strong tide, immersing you in a world of sounds and emotions. I like how “Knotting Trees” combines brightness and tenderness in rock. Bright guitar chords and powerful bass create the impression that you are waking up in a world where anything is possible, while the languid vocals add a special warmth and intimacy to this song. And the fifth, closing track, “Played Out Dreams,” embodies power, energy, and lyricism. The sweet melodious sound of this song reminds you that even in the toughest moments, we can always find light and hope. It’s like a conversation with a close friend who supports you and helps you realize that you are capable of more than you ever thought. “Played Out Dreams,” with its light synth experiments, leaves a pleasant feeling of ellipsis. It hints that Nvrman will release even more cool music in the future, and that their experiments will undoubtedly bring them to the forefront of the alternative rock scene. Absolutely!
