Paranormal phenomena and time travel are mysterious fragments of another reality that captivate the minds of researchers. Perhaps these phenomena do not contradict each other, but are connected by a common secret hidden in the laws of time, space, and the very essence of existence. They inspire theories, and also make one think about the nature of consciousness and the truth of perception.
This mysterious theme inspired Holly Havens to create the EP “Uncanny”. Holly Havens’ musical style combines country, pop, and rock. Holly has also become a finalist in numerous competitions such as Open Mic UK and Unstoppable UK. Holly Havens is fascinated by the mysteries of time. She dreams of life in Victorian England with its refined atmosphere or in the jazz era, full of freedom and self-expression, as well as in the distant future, where science reveals limitless possibilities. The ideas of time travel and living in different historical periods captivate her imagination and inspire her creativity, which is reflected in her new EP “Uncanny,” where nostalgia for the past intertwines with a yearning for the unknown.

The track “Just a Ghost” opens the record. Its arrangement combines light melodic guitar chords and an expressive drum rhythm, creating a rich backdrop. Holly’s vocals, filled with nuances, harmoniously intertwine with the instrumental accompaniment, adding brightness to the sound. The main idea of the song is the search for self-confidence. The ghosts act as a metaphor for negative thoughts that fill the mind. The realization that these “ghosts” are merely creations of the mind, with no real power to harm, becomes a step toward inner liberation and strengthening belief in oneself. Holly believes that music, like time, is capable of connecting eras.
As in the track “Uncanny,” I would compare it to a mirror of time, but with a distorted reflection where you see familiar places, objects, and items, but there is a sense that they now belong to others. Listening to it literally takes your breath away. The dazzling music surprises with its genre diversity, bright effects, and unexpected melodic moves. And over all this magnificence soars Holly’s amazing voice.
In the track “Time Traveler,” Holly Havens tells the story of how love can transcend all boundaries, including time. She sings about a woman who falls in love with someone living in another historical period. She meets him in another time, and their feelings become a true clash of worlds. And then, just as everything starts to seem possible, she is forced to return to her own reality, to her own era.
Inspired by personal experience, Holly put not only the idea of time travel into this song but also everything she herself has gone through. She understands perfectly what it’s like to be in a relationship, knowing it cannot last forever. No matter how much time has passed, and no matter how much everything has changed, the important thing is that the feelings remain real. And no matter how this story ends, it will still matter. The delicate melody and deep musical layers create an airy atmosphere, where the sound of the music comes to life. Frankly speaking, this track has become my favorite.

In the final track “Fickle Heart,” Holly conveys all the anxiety that uncertainty in a relationship brings when you can’t be sure of another person and don’t know where their heart truly lies. From the first notes, the weight of disappointment is felt – the confusion that takes over when you lose someone who once seemed caring and close. Although the story itself is familiar, Holly’s delivery makes it truly personal. Her voice is like watching wax slowly melt: tenderness, warmth, and the pain of a broken heart. However, within this vulnerability lies strength – a quiet resilience in Holly’s voice that speaks of the lessons learned through the experience, despite the pain.
Although time travel remains just a dream, the songs on the EP “Uncanny” open portals to worlds where sounds and the feeling of unity with something immeasurably larger become reality. Holly Havens erases temporal boundaries, and her music serves as a guide to uncharted spaces.
