The track was written on the eve of the U.S. presidential election in November 2024 – just a month after Sony’s independent distribution arm terminated their contract with him. According to Ian himself, “This song was my emotional response – almost like an allergic reaction – to everything happening in the world and in my own life. At that moment, all I wanted was to curl up on the couch with my wife Nicole and talk about how I was trying to stay optimistic about our future, even though our circumstances were far from perfect.”
