“Sweet Pocket Aces” is Jake Herring’s third single, capturing the crazy emotional rollercoaster of a relationship where it’s just one step from euphoria to pain. The title plays on the metaphor of an ace, which can be the strongest card in the hand or a total letdown.
Jake did everything himself-recording, producing, mixing, and mastering-with the only addition being a live cello performance by BooknotBrooke. That same handcrafted aesthetic carries over to the visuals: the music video was shot on Super 8 film (starring Emilia Page and directed by Adam Bartoshesky), while the cover artwork features a 35mm photo with the title hand-embroidered onto it. It turns into a catchy story about the fine line between joy and pain-and the thrill of a relationship that’s constantly riding the waves.
