Steve Stout is an independent musician who handles the entire process himself, from production to mixing, working within a DIY indie aesthetic with touches of psychedelic and folk influences. “Waitin’ on Mine” is the result of his collaboration with M.C. Taylor of Hiss Golden Messenger. The lyrics capture a sense of constant motion and life on the road, as well as a more universal feeling – that even at different stages of a career, there are moments of doubt: “when will my moment finally come?”
Taylor also contributed vocal parts in the choruses and recorded the guitar solo, while Walker Eaglheart (The Bangles, Melissa Etheridge) added a beautiful, shimmering piano part to the track.
