Guitars, Anxiety and Social Media: Andy Blackwell Introduces “Flowers”

Andy Blackwell is an artist and songwriter from North London who isn’t afraid to address issues that are familiar to almost everyone. His debut single, “Flowers,” is a modern protest song about how social media has gradually infiltrated every aspect of our lives and begun to dictate where we look, what we feel, and what we share.

Musically, “Flowers” sounds just as tense as its subject matter. Inspired by Radiohead, Bowie, and his love of ’90s indie bands, Blackwell combines driving guitars, an anxious atmosphere, and melancholic piano passages. The result is a track that feels both expansive and deeply personal – the kind of song that not only draws you in, but also makes you pause and reflect on your own dependence on screens.
