The Album Of The Year Is Here. seaboi Knows What You’re Afraid To Admit – And Named It “twinkmaxxing”

The internet has long been doing what literature once did: creating language for things that previously had none. The LGBTQ+ community, in this sense, works with doubled intensity: it invents words for states, experiences, and archetypes that existed for decades without names. Some of these words live in memes and dissolve within a week. Others settle in and become genuinely accepted terms. twinkmaxxing is one of those terms that has firmly taken root in the community. The word describes something specific: an image, a behavior, and an entire universe of self-definition, with both its appeal and its absurdity. Montreal-based singer, guitarist, and keyboardist seaboi took this word and built an entire universe around it in his new album “twinkmaxxing.”

“twinkmaxxing” is an eight-track LP released on April 17, 2026. The album moves through lust, relationships, introspection, and loss through a specific LGBTQ+ archetype. It is recognizable within the community, detailed, with its own internal logic, and carries very particular meanings. The opening track “micro attractor” launches the album with distorted synths that quickly grow into a dark pop sound. The verse is dense with layered textures and rhythms; the sense of attraction here feels physical, almost tangible. The lyrics are warped, slipping at times into slightly robotic accents, creating tension and an atmosphere of near isolation.

“highways & mazes” sounds more synthetic, with a viscous, slow-moving energy that dissolves into the sound. The deliberately synthesized production, with a bright rhythm that almost ticks like a metronome, allows seaboi’s synth-pop sound to be experienced in a new way. It’s a cozy and catchy track. Romantic, almost like a confession of love. About that kind of chemistry that happens in relationships and usually lasts just long enough to make you want to stay together forever.

we folded this space together then
to the taste of your lips and wide-eyed gaze
we stayed up all night under a field of stars
tracing highways and mazes into these hearts ablaze

“models & apostles” works with similar guitar energy, adds acoustic layers, and turns the atmosphere toward a more closed space of gloss and ideal. In my opinion, this track comes closest to a rethinking of the terms and norms of the community. The honesty of the musician in speaking about such complex things through the prism of synthpop electronic sound. What stands out is the metaphorical nature of the lyrics and the depth of the texts. The duality of the lyrics will unfold for each listener in its own way, relying on lived experience and mood. This is a sign of an artist who feels this world with the soul.

how long will it take to be right in the end
you see those beach front houses with those manicured lawns
and how far will you run to change your “k” to an “m”
you see, you’re pretty as hell but then again will gravity tell

“askim” is my personal favorite. For me, night falls while listening to the track. Dark piano, insomnia, the anxiety of loss that takes the floor after midnight and speaks for a long time, usually until morning, not letting you fall asleep. There are commercial and cozy hooks in the vocals here that create a hypnotic sound.

The release is closed by “equinox”: tender strings, keyboards, sensual vocal. The album comes to a point where seaboi knows enough about himself to stop. The finale is made with a grace which, after the preceding tension, is perceived as a real exhale. The lyrics are filled with long phrases, the song turns into an almost-monologue. With himself? With the world? With you? This track is obligatory for listening, because it is here that you will hear seaboi’s heart and soul, laid bare and completely unprotected.

and the spectres of the vanquished are expunged from their blacklists
a new pax montrealis, there’s a new drug, i’m the new drug

enticing these glistening afterthoughts in all the vassals spread across
i start to ditch myself in orbits, my body glows, my body’s whole

The eight tracks of “twinkmaxxing” are arranged as a sequence with an internal logic. While listening to the album, you will feel attraction, loss, love and passion, regret and reflection. All of this works as a single space that is memorable and sets seaboi’s music apart in the industry. The album “twinkmaxxing” is available on all streaming platforms.
