The band LINGER has released a new track. “Rise” is a song about cautious hope. It reflects the conflicting emotions experienced by a population after the fall of an authoritarian regime-echoing moments such as the collapse of the Eastern Bloc and the Berlin Wall, or post–World War II Europe. There is a sense of relief, but also doubt. It is a bittersweet triumph: while there is victory, the cost is immense, and the weight of tragedy, suffering, and loss raises the question of whether the world can ever truly recover.
And whether humanity itself can regain its faith in people. “We survived, but can we ever fix what’s been broken?” Ultimately, the song suggests that yes-we can. But only if we rise together.
