In her new single “Whitehill”, Derin turns to a life that almost happened – an alternative ending that keeps playing over in her mind. The song is about a distance that cannot be overcome: when you clearly understand that you will never meet that person again, and the story ends without resolution. It is about trying to accept this as “final”, without letting go of the thought that everything could have been different.
Patience and deep immersion have always defined her approach to music and writing. Her experience in production has given her a broader understanding of how sound tells a story – and that is clearly heard in the new release.
