Lively, Sharp, and Honest: Stef Fraser’s New Track “Cold Hard Facts”

A woman with a van and a mild obsession with pigeons is the kind of presence you don’t easily forget once you’ve heard her. Independent singer-songwriter Steph Fraser releases her single “Cold Hard Facts” – a lively, sparkling indie pop track built on dense layers of acoustic guitars and a chiming 12-string Rickenbacker that quickly hooks the ear. At its core is a simple but insistent refrain: “He gave me the Cold Hard Facts of Love.”

The track is upbeat and immediately memorable, but beneath its bright, sunlit surface lies an unexpected emotional depth. It carries the energy of a live performance, as if the band is playing right in front of you with no distance or filters. Fraser’s vocals were later recorded and refined inside her camper van – the same one she lives and travels in with her longtime collaborator Jonny Wright, turning constant motion into part of the creative process.
