Jeanie is the musical alias of Los Angeles-based songwriter Christy Lamb. Her songs are shaped by vivid observations, subtle lyricism, and restrained emotional expression, through which she weaves personal experience and shared realities into honest, sometimes painful stories. In her new track “Shame on Me,” she turns to the boundaries between church and state, also addressing issues of religious intolerance and the rise of Christian nationalism in the United States.
“For me, this song is a significant moment. It’s a step toward creating a different system – one where I have ownership of my body, my story, and my voice. Where power belongs to me. For a long time, I didn’t even believe that was possible,” Jeanie says. Her music, built on bittersweet melodies, precise lyrics, and direct expression, is at once affecting, calming, and thought-provoking.
