Cypress Key is the latest project from New Orleans-born and raised musician Mazz. After spending ten years in New York, he returned home to tell his story – a story of growing up in the Deep South, where there was always room for laughter and joy, but also for the harsh realities of life.
The song “Hey Sunshine” begins with waking up and realizing that a new day lies ahead. For Mazz, it also symbolizes a new chapter – a journey he is beginning with someone close to him, someone he owes much of what he has today. The organ intro immediately sets a warm mood for the song. When the electric guitar takes center stage in the chorus, the emotions intensify, and a personal confession gradually turns into a genuine surge of feeling.
