A Song as a Turning Point: Micah Willis Introduces “Apr. 4”

Micah Willis is a musician with years of practice and a true blues education behind him. He grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, and first picked up the harmonica alongside his father, professional blues musician Kenny Neal. It all began with the music he grew up with – and now Micah is returning to those roots. “Apr. 4” marks the beginning of a new chapter. And perhaps it is one of the musician’s most personal songs.

The title refers to a specific date – April 4, 2025. That was the moment Micah found himself at a turning point while struggling with addiction. Music helped him stop, change direction, and find a way forward. Working on “Apr. 4” became another important step – an opportunity to look back, process that difficult experience, and finally leave it behind.
