The world of modern neoclassical and orchestral dream pop is an ocean of possibilities, and when a release appears that can disconnect you from reality, it instantly becomes a sensation. That is exactly how the new album ‘Wings of Adelaine’ feels, released on Flatcar Records / Fontana North by Lauren Pedersen, a composer and producer and Danish-Canadian singer known under the stage name ABØN. This 10-track album seems to be made of light, gentleness, and comfort. The airy orchestral arrangements sound like a sunlit fog, and ABØN’s delicate voice, like an angelic vision, captures each moment. The music is filled with space, ease, love, and gives everyone a chance to disconnect from the world, from everyday worries, and dive into another realm, where wonder and love become real.

In creating ‘Wings of Adelaine’, ABØN wrote the tracks herself, putting her soul into them and weaving in, between the misty measures, the idea that no matter what the world is like, there are still miracles in it, you only need to see them. I like that ‘Wings of Adelaine’ is, on one hand, a source of inspiration and strength, and on the other, a beautiful collection of tracks for meditation and mental rest. I want to highlight a few tracks that made the strongest impression on me and truly switched off all the thoughts that had been bothering me, letting me simply enjoy the music. Without a doubt, the first is ‘Miracles’, with its mysterious title.
This track slowly unfolds into a symphony, a symphony of voices, gentle waves of vocals, and soft orchestral arrangement. I could compare ‘Miracles’ to a flight over an endless ocean, it is that mesmerizing, atmospheric, and ephemeral. I like how effortlessly the track ‘Anam Cara’ begins, with a louder and more powerful vocal, a calming harmony, and the textured sound of the arrangement. There is strength hidden in its hypnotic sound. It comes through in the dynamic between the high and low notes, creating a hazy and, I would even say, almost mystical atmosphere.
In ‘Stone III’, the melody takes on a cinematic quality thanks to the shimmering keys, building an atmosphere similar to a Malick film. It is a deeply meditative track where each listener can find their own emotion. For some, it might bring joy and peace to their day, while for others, it may help carry them through sadness and leave them with a sense of lightness and healing by the final bars. ‘Abdiel’ sounds entirely playful and light. It is a magical and delicate melody that, to me, reflects nature waking up after a long sleep. The playfulness, the hope, the almost childlike carefreeness heard in ‘Abdiel’ makes it one of my favorite tracks on the album. ABØN’s vocal, airy and gentle, completes the melody, offering a fresh perspective on neoclassical music.

The track ‘Sol’ opens with a steady heartbeat. The vocal dissolves into this rhythmic pulse, while the keys amplify the feeling of something beyond our control. The track sounds quite experimental, standing out through its harmonies and energy. Each measure of the melody seems to hold strength, independence, and care. Whether speaking of the sun as a star or drawing on its mythological side, every meaning adds a unique depth and energy to ‘Sol’. I like how the sun is tied to life, to the heartbeat, it brings conceptual depth to the album. The final track ‘Home’, with its airy flow of meditative elements and a gentle touch of birdsong, brings a feeling of light euphoria, a sense of safety and healing. It is a stunning conclusion to the album, offering a sense of comfort that lingers in the memory. In the most difficult times or in the rush of daily life, there is always a longing for a corner of peace and calm, and the album ‘Wings of Adelaine’ can become that space for you.
‘Wings of Adelaine’ by ABØN is more than a story or a meditation album. It is life. Real life, with its wonders, its complexities, and the ease that quietly follows each of us. The only thing that matters is to reach out, and the prayer will be heard. ABØN takes on the role of a healer in a modern world marked by anxiety, haste, and loneliness. Each track on ‘Wings of Adelaine’ offers a sense of healing and feels essential to listen to. Perhaps this is exactly the kind of music the soul needs right now. ABØN has also released music videos that accompany the album with visual imagery, further enhancing its sound.
