A Little Recklessness: Claire Guerreso with “Go, Go Go”

“Why not allow oneself a bit of recklessness?” is a question that sounds suspicious in ordinary life, yet in music often turns out to be an invitation to an adventure. Especially if followed by a loud beat, a mischievous intonation, and an inner command not to stop. It is precisely with this mood that Claire Guerreso releases the single “Go, Go Go” – a song about turning off the inner controller at least for a short while and stepping on the gas.

Claire Guerreso, known for her work for film and TV, as well as her ability to virtuously cross indie-pop, rock, electronics, and soul, this time decided to play a bolder and more mischievous game with the listener. While in previous tracks listeners admired her airy, trembling vocals within deep and dramatic arrangements, “Go, Go Go” reveals a completely different Claire – assertive, playful, and slightly hooliganish.

In short, this is a song for those who have been thinking for too long. The track starts with a dense, pulsating bass that instantly hooks the chest. Claire enters richly and effortlessly – it seems that she has made a decision and is now waiting for the rest of the world to catch up with her. The tension spills outward in the pre-chorus: the guitars become heavier, the rhythm – faster, and the song rushes forward in an adrenaline stream. “With ‘Go Go Go,’ I wanted to bottle that feeling of throwing caution to the wind, turning the volume all the way up, and getting a little reckless,” says Claire. And this is audible in every element: the drums beat continuously, while the synthesizers add a cinematic scale to the track.

“Go, Go, Go” is a genre without borders: indie-pop and alt-rock with a pinch of epic synth sound that directors of trailers and sports commercials love. And the track begs to be in a movie, in an advertisement, in an acceleration playlist before a workout. It possesses an ability to sound like a personal statement and as a stimulus to move. With “Go, Go, Go”, one wants to run, drive, dance, or do what was delayed for too long.

There are conversation-songs and action-songs. “Go, Go, Go” is definitely the latter. The song pushes toward action. And, to be honest, sometimes precisely such music is lacking – to stop recalculating everything ten times and finally take a step.

So yes – go, go, go. It seems this is that very case when one should simply obey.
