The music of Portland-based singer-songwriter Lexie exists somewhere between pain, healing, and finding her way back to life. In her new song “Swimming,” she reflects on rediscovering her body and sexuality after cancer.
For Lexie, “swimming” became a metaphor for that return – the feeling of being alive and free again, of truly inhabiting your own body. “For me, ‘Swimming’ is the energy I felt when I really fell for someone and finally felt present in my body again. I felt connected to my sexuality again,” she says.
