Gianna Alessi on New York’s “Unsung Heroes” in “NY10”

Gianna Alessi’s “NY10” is inspired by the unsung heroes of her hometown, New York City: the owners and employees of local corner grocery stores known as bodegas.

Born out of a casual conversation with one such shopkeeper in Brooklyn, the song is an alt-pop ode with disco influences, celebrating the people who keep the city running and give it its distinctive character. Blending fantasy and storytelling, “NY10” is the singer’s most pop-oriented track to date, capturing the humor, charm, and unmistakable energy of New York City.
