Secret Bad Boy is the art-pop project of Chicago musician Ben Joseph, best known as a longtime member of Ezra Furman’s band. His songs are packed with rich synth textures, unexpected turns, and the kind of genuine intensity that grabs you right away.
Take “In the Fullness of Time” (You Become All the People You Claim to Revile), an upbeat rock track driven by baritone guitar, a wall of synths, and a chorus that easily gets stuck in your head. The track was recorded by Ben Joseph and Ezra Furman herself. Joseph says he wanted the chorus line to convey the “huge cosmic, biblical significance” of a simple idea: you shouldn’t take yourself too seriously.
